The Juxbox: Natural Curiosities

I'm a hoarder by nature and with my interest in anatomy, science, books, and decorating it's no great surprise that one of my dreams is having my own Wunderkammer.  Isn't just grand to have a roomful of books and interesting objects and whatnots. Too be frank the dream, as any good dreams are, is a bit far fetched. I would be more happy enough to settle with a copy of Albertus Seba's Cabinet of Natural Curiosities (remember this please, especially on my birthday). Or perhaps not, and went collecting little by little until I die, in the meanwhile I will share my collection here, this blog is my weenie web wunderkammer after all. 

How could I not envy him, cool job, awesome house, even fabulous clothings.

Bart from Holland send me this lovely photo of his enviable collection of insects and anatomy images.  Among them is my work (top right) whom he got as a present from his friend Loes who bought it via my Etsy shop. I have this fuzzy feeling of i-dunno-what when I saw  "Cora the Kind"  gettin' kinda homey hangin'-wit-da-hommies in an abode abroad , thousand miles and miles away from here. Must be magic (or proper mail service). Thank you so much Bart ; )

I just finished painting these dangly darlings last night and glazed them this morning.  While I was uploading it to my Etsy shop, I got this call from GoodHousekeeping Indonesia asking me to join their Creative Christmas Tree Challenge, what a happy coincidence! Whooppeeeee....!

In the Mail! My Etsy Trade

My second Etsy trade has arrived! Yayyyy!!!!

These beautiful earrings is from Mel a jewel-maker from Australia, who happens to be of Indonesian-descent. I trade her's with my Candy Colored Tag that seems to be hearted by jewelry maker (my other trade is from another jewelry maker requesting the same thing only customized with her name on it, I haven't received it yet but I will soon post about it once it's arrived)

New Items!

From Borneo's glassbeads (that I bought on my mudik-trip), my spraypainted metal settings, and 18x13mm original japanese vintage cabochons that I got from Etsy these darling little things dangle merriily on a 50 cm silver colored chains with lovely toggle clasps.....

I am not so sure if I am ready to sell it just yet.....

I am also really happy with the way this large mother-of-pearl rose pendant ( this one is from this very old jewelry shop on my trip to Malang), that also matches beautifully with the recently bought glassbeads from Martapura, South Borneo.

Clay Play

Here's my latest craze.... the iClay from Amos. And no, this isn't some iPod hacks. The texture and colors are very similar to the usual claydough except that it could be hardened. Unlike polyclay it doesn't need baking, so oven won't be necessary since it could be air dried. Once dried (usually overnight) it becomes this rubbery thing that's very much like gum-eraser. Tried to glaze it with high-gloss varnish and it becomes sorta plasticky. Still having problems when I tried to glue it onto settings and wirings. I am using UHU's all pupose adhesive, any suggestion on better selection? ( and please don't mention the awesome E-6000 cause it is soooooooooo hard to find in Indonesia)
